With the opportunity to get involved in the development of AI products and policies, Microsoft is reaching out to young people between the ages of 13 and 17. The goal is to establish a youth council (AI Futures Youth Council) consisting of 20 members. Ten young people from the US and ten from EU member states who are interested in helping to shape processes through their perspectives and suggestions are being sought. The aim is to represent as many different countries as possible.

A prerequisite for participation is a good grasp of English in order to be able to actively contribute to the Youth Council. Topics that the Youth Council will address include AI, age verification, and digital security. The Youth Council will be led by Praesidio Safeguarding

There will be three online meetings of the council between February/March and June/July and a face-to-face event in fall. The event will take place in Brussels for the youth council members from EU countries and in Washington, D.C. for the US youth council members.

As artificial intelligence increasingly influences the lives of many people, the voices of young people are indispensable. The Youth Council will support Microsoft in responsibly designing AI applications that will significantly shape the future of young people.

The application deadline is February 9. Permission from a parent or guardian is required to apply. The application form can be found here.
