The European Commission is continuing to prepare the market environment for virtual worlds and artificial intelligence.

After three days of intensive discussion and exchange, this year's edition of the European Dialogue on Internet Governance (EuroDIG) concluded in Vilnius (Lithuania) on 19 June. At the closing event, the messages of the conference were discussed with regard to political projects within the European Union, the digitalisation of administrations and the use of citizens' data, artificial intelligence and against the backdrop of ongoing discussions on the Global Digital Compact. As soon as they are published, they will also be available here.

On the second day of the European Dialogue on Internet Governance (EuroDIG) in Vilnius, Lithuania, the participants discussed on-site and remote how users of digital services can be protected from possible attacks or harmful content.

This year's European Dialogue on Internet Governance (EuroDIG) opened in Vilnius on 17 June. The President of Lithuania, Gitanas Nauseda, welcomed the 765 participants and emphasised in his video message that people should be at the centre of all considerations.

With the 2. amendment of the Federal Youth Protection Act in Germany, the legislator has introduced the legal concept of personal integrity into the Youth Protection Act. The text presents an understanding of the protection objectives, which is derived from the justification for the reform and other developments in the field and results in the following definition:

Personal integrity of children includes the protection of physical and psychological integrity as well as personal data. In particular, the age-appropriate and future-open development as well as the informational and sexual self-determination of minors must be ensured. The abuse of inexperience and age, economic exploitation and the commercial or other improper processing and dissemination of user data are, conversely, contrary to the protection of personal integrity.

The next European Dialogue on Internet Governance (EuroDIG) will take place from 17 to 19 June in Vilnius (Lithuania) and will realised hybrid. Under the motto ‘Balancing innovation and regulation’, representatives from politics, business, civil society and science will discuss current developments and trends. Also the participants come together to network at the conference.

The study offers a global overview of children's and carers' perceptions of risks in the digital environment and provides advice on how these can be countered. The categorisation and evaluation of the results do not necessarily reflect the views of the project.

Since 5 June, the Federal Office for the Enforcement of Children's Rights in Digital Services (KidD) has been available online at www.kidd.bund.de. At the Federal Agency for Child and Youth Protection in the Media, it is committed to the safe use of online services that are important for children and young people.
