After three days of intensive discussion and exchange, this year's edition of the European Dialogue on Internet Governance (EuroDIG) concluded in Vilnius (Lithuania) on 19 June. At the closing event, the messages of the conference were discussed with regard to political projects within the European Union, the digitalisation of administrations and the use of citizens' data, artificial intelligence and against the backdrop of ongoing discussions on the Global Digital Compact. As soon as they are published, they will also be available here.

On the second day of the European Dialogue on Internet Governance (EuroDIG) in Vilnius, Lithuania, the participants discussed on-site and remote how users of digital services can be protected from possible attacks or harmful content.

This year's European Dialogue on Internet Governance (EuroDIG) opened in Vilnius on 17 June. The President of Lithuania, Gitanas Nauseda, welcomed the 765 participants and emphasised in his video message that people should be at the centre of all considerations.

The study offers a global overview of children's and carers' perceptions of risks in the digital environment and provides advice on how these can be countered. The categorisation and evaluation of the results do not necessarily reflect the views of the project.

Since 5 June, the Federal Office for the Enforcement of Children's Rights in Digital Services (KidD) has been available online at www.kidd.bund.de. At the Federal Agency for Child and Youth Protection in the Media, it is committed to the safe use of online services that are important for children and young people.

Looking back at the last week in May, we can see that children's rights have now also made it onto the programme of the most important digital policy…

Under the heading ‘Online advertising - between opportunities, law and responsibility’, the 24th edition of the watchdog format of the state media authorities in mid-May also dealt with family influencing and the question of how digital content with children should be realised or better refrained from.

In May 2024, German Constitution celebrates its 75th birthday. As a guarantee for our civil rights, it is a cornerstone of democracy and is rightly honoured not only in Germany, but has also served as a model and blueprint for the constitutions of other countries for 75 years. Spain and Portugal, but also young democracies in Europe, South America and Asia have modelled their constitution on it. And yet, something is missing from the German Constitution: Children's rights!

Anonymity is a premium value that the German government has also enshrined in the coalition agreement for the use of digital services.

The European Commission intends to further develop existing regulations to combat sexual abuse of children. The focus here is on additions that will in future also cover the forms of such violence in digital environments, strengthen the prevention of offences and the support of affected children and promote cooperation between member states in the investigation and prosecution of offences.
