The study published in July 2025 by ECPAT Deutschland e.V. and authored by Eva Fuhr and Thomas Müller addresses a newer form of sexual exploitation of children and adolescents: “pocket money dates”.
“Pocket money dates” are meetings where sexual acts are offered in exchange for a fee. In Germany, “pocket money dates” take place in person with physical contact, e. g. in private homes, hotels or parks. “Pocket money dates” are also offered digitally in the form of photos, videos or live streaming. (Fuhr & Müller, 2025)
The study provides an initial overview of the sexual exploitation of minors in Germany. It combines journalistic reports with international studies and expert knowledge from specialist counseling centers and the judiciary. In addition, an analysis of the terms and conditions of online platforms reveals gaps in child protection. The aim is to formulate recommendations for action for politicians, civil society, and the private sector. The study is based on interviews, surveys, and secondary analyses from the period February 2024 to January 2025.
