We’ve joined 140+ organisations and experts in child rights, digital rights and mental health in calling on European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to make child safety a condition of providing digital services to children.

A year ago, President von der Leyen committed to making children safer online and launched an expert panel to advise the EU on next steps. Now, we’re calling for those recommendations to become concrete action.

Children need more than restrictions on their access to technology. Tech companies should be required to prove their products are safe and age-appropriate before they reach children.

The responsibility for keeping children safe online should sit with the companies designing these spaces — not with parents, and not with children.
