    The digital environment can greatly enable and enhance children’s access to high-quality inclusive education, including reliable resources for formal, non-formal, informal, peer-to-peer and self-directed learning. Use of digital technologies can also strengthen engagement between the teacher and student and between learners.

    The digital environment promotes children’s right to culture, leisure and play, which is essential for their well-being and development. Children of all ages report that they experienced pleasure, interest and relaxation through engaging with a wide range of digital products and services of their choice.

PROTECTION of children is written in capitals today!

Although the rights of children to protection, provision and participation are all equally important and should not be prioritised over each other, sessions on the second day of the 2025 IGF put a strong focus on child protection.

One for all – all for one: In the best interest of the child

Day Zero of the IGF 2025 startet with an opening key note by Karianne Tung, Minister of Digitalisation and Public Governance Norway stating that the Norwegian Government sees the IGF as a key part of the UN role in responsible human centric digital development. The questions addressed in the following five days are «about our lives and our common future», she said, demanding to build »a digital world that works for everyone ».

IGF 2025: Building Digital Governance Together – Call for Session Proposals

Norway will host the 20th United Nations Internet Governance Forum (IGF) from 23 to 27 June 2025. In this anniversary year, participants from the stakeholder groups government, private sector, technical community, intergovernmental organisations and civil society will come together in Lillestrom near Oslo to discuss current issues relating to the governance and regulation of the digital environment under the motto ‘Building Digital Governance Together’.
